MUSC’s Dept. of Surgery offers a funded summer internship through the PASS Program

The PASS (Pipeline for Aspiring Surgical Students) Program provides summer internships with the MUSC Department of Surgery.

The Opportunity: The PASS Program provides up to three Honors interns with an immersive 10-week summer experience focused on laboratory and clinical research and designed to prepare students for a career in academic medicine, all under the mentorship of Department of Surgery faculty.

Great Fit For: Aspiring surgeons / Future medical scientists / those thinking about pursuing an MD/PhD or MD/MS and looking to bolster their application credentials

Get Funded: Students accepted into the PASS Program also participate in the Honors Summer Enrichment Program, which includes funding of up to $4000 to support their PASS internship.

Rotary Global Grants Information Session on February 7th

Details: Information will be given about the Rotary Foundation’s global grant scholarships, which provide up to $45,000 in funding for graduate programs that align with one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus: promotion of peace, disease prevention, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, education and literacy, economic development, and environmental protection.

Call for Submissions: Student activist projects, poetry, and visual art that honors Septima Clark

The College’s Discovering our Past initiative is sponsoring a contest for student projects that continue the legacy and impact of Septima Clark’s activism.

The Projects: Prizes will be awarded for students activism, poetry, and visual artwork that interprets the causes and values that Clark is known for.

The Benefits: Winning submissions will receive a cash prize and will be included in an exhibit installed in the Septima Clark Auditorium (ECTR 118).

Applications for the 2024 Fulbright UK Summer Institutes Are Open!

Are you interested in going to the UK this summer and exploring its culture and heritage? Check out the Fulbright UK Summer Institutes (UKSIs)!

The Opportunity: Enables high-achieving students who haven’t traveled much outside of the US to spend three-to-four weeks in the UK during the summer. Each UKSI focuses on a different theme, from Arts, Activism, and Social Justice to Technology, Innovation, and Creativity, and they blend academics with practical insights. Additionally, students explore the vibrant culture and heritage of the UK, enhancing their understanding of the world in ways no classroom can alone.

Details: The US-UK Fulbright Commission and its partner institutions cover program costs, including airfare, tuition, accommodation, and, in some cases, a daily allowance for meals. That way, your focus remains on learning and growing through your experience during the summer.

Great Fit For: Sophomores and freshmen with a 3.7+ GPA and little or no travel experience outside North America.

The Jill Conway Annual Scholarship recognizes former Honors College employee Jill Conway and her amazing impact on Honors College students. The scholarship supports a current Honors College student who demonstrates engagement, personal growth, and curiosity to explore new interests within the Honors College. Apply here.

The Chad V. Adams ’18 Memorial Scholarship celebrates the life of Honors College alumnus Chad V. Adams ‘18 who embraced adventure and had a dedication to bring his best to whatever he pursued. Get your summer research funded through SSME summer research funding

SSME undergraduate students are invited to apply for funding which will enable them to conduct summer research.

The Funding: Stipends of up to $5000 are available to successful applicants. Students conducting a 10 week project with a College of Charleston research mentor will be given priority.

Great Fit For: All students majoring/minoring in an SSME discipline and planning to conduct summer research.

How to Apply: Online application by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024.

  • Important: Your faculty research advisor must also submit their own faculty application, so be sure to coordinate with them.
