For the Party People:
Party at the Point:$7.00, short drive
What: Weekly outdoor concert featuring local live music. This week, it’s the Kopecky Family Band. Bountiful food and drink specials!
Who: Anyone who likes to bust a move and groove. Family- and dog-friendly.
When & Where: 5:30 to 9:30 pm, Friday October 4 at the Charleston’s Harbor Resort & Marina on Patriot’s Point. (20 Patriots Point Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464)
For Local Culture:
Passages Art Show and Sale Call: Free, within walking distance
What: A multidisciplinary exhibition of fine contemporary art and crafts from the global African Diaspora. Displays both seasoned and emerging artists, and offers a chance to meet them!
Who: Anyone with an appreciation for local art and culture
When & Where: 12-7pm Friday October 4, and 12-7pm Saturday October 5 at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church (110 Calhoun Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29401)
Charleston Farmer’s Market: Free, within walking distance
What: Access to the finest local produce, delicious prepared foods, unique artisan foods, and family-friendly entertainment. A Charleston tradition. People- and dog-watching encouraged.
Who: Anyone and everyone
When & Where: 8:00am-2:00pm, Saturday October 5 in Marion Square (King & Calhoun Streets)
Entertainment:
Sherlock Holmes and the Charleston History Mystery: $22 with your Cougar Card, within walking distance
What: A Historical City Tour for the truly lazy—you never have to leave your theater seat. Explore Charleston’s past, present, and other worldly… If you’re brave enough to volunteer, you might play a victim, villain or vile vision.
Who: Anyone with some courage and curiosity.
When & Where: 8:00pm Friday October 4, 9:00pm Friday October 5 at The Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre (164 Church Street, Charleston SC)
The Sound of Charleston: $16 with Cougar Card, within walking distance
What: Listen to the unique sounds that define Charleston’s rich musical heritage…gospel, Gershwin, music of the Civil War, classics & jazz, presented by professional artists in a 15-minute concert. (Tickets available online, at any Visitor Center, or by calling box office at 843-270-4903.)
Who: Anyone with a penchant for history and music.
When & Where: 7:00pm, Saturday October 5, at the Circular Congregational Church (150 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401)
