Abigail Reeves ’20 presents her 3MT on “Predicting Reactivity of Homologous Sulfohydrolases via a Bioinformatics Approach”
In any other year, the senior class of Charleston Fellows would have spent the first week of April summarizing their Honors College Bachelor’s Essay projects for a packed auditorium. These presentations have long functioned as a culminating moment for members of the Charleston Fellows Program to share and celebrate their impressive academic undertakings. But like everyone else this spring, Fellows in the Class of 2020 were forced to improvise.
Unable to gather in public due to Covid-19, the group instead took their presentations online. Students recorded themselves digitally from their homes, putting their own interpretive spin on the 3-Minute Thesis, a presentation format made popular by an international graduate school research competition.
Despite having to contend with connectivity issues, improvised recording equipment, and the stress of wrapping up their college careers under unexpected circumstances, Fellows still managed to articulate the remarkably impressive research they completed in their time at the Honors College.
