It is finally complete! After hours of frustrating trial and error, I have finished my website.
While I have created a website before, I have never used wordpress so this was definitely an intense learning curve. As you can see, I used the illustrator template as I was recommended which proved to be the easiest to customize. Still, I chose to keep my design quite basic, as I am nowhere near an expert at designing websites. I did not want to exceed my talents and take away from my work with risky website design.
I decided to separate my work into three different categories: Academic, Editorial, and my Blog Posts. I felt these three categories most closely mirrored my writing journey, as these genres encapsulate the work I feel most proud of. With more time, I do believe that I could edit and add more work from my academic studies. I would love to expand my site with creative writing pieces as well, but we could leave that for a later date.
I do believe that my website does represent the values I have learned from my time in the English Major, while also displaying my professional editorial skills which I am excited to promote. As I looked closely at my past work, I can now see the common theme of my work lying in the relationship between art and humanity on a larger societal scale. Looking back at my responses to prompts and my own personal passions, this feels quite obvious, but it feels good to see this in my senior year and to put it into words.
I hope you enjoy my website!
