Welcoming New Staff: Drew Newton

The School of Business welcomes Drew Newton to the Student Success Center as the Associate Director of Academic Advising Services.

Drew has led 4 institution-wide new initiatives that enhanced academic advising, improved advising technologies, expanded access, and reaffirmed the importance of diversity and inclusion. He has served as a K-12 teacher, a UNIV 101 first-year seminar instructor, a UNIV 401 capstone seminar instructor, an advisor at a university, an advisor at a community/technical college, and as an advising leader.  His credentials include an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina, a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from James Madison University, and participation in the University Emerging Leaders Program at USC.  Drew was named the 2021-22 Administrator of the Year at Midlands Technical College and his Gamecock Gateway program was named NASPA’s National Excellence Award Winner for Enrollment Management/First Year Programs.  Drew is excited to be part of the School of Business community and we invite you to stop by to say hello or drop him an email to welcome him.
