I wanted to give a very warm welcome to the MCOM Graduate students. Second Years – it’s great to have you back! First Years – welcome to the program!
I’d like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Stephenie Snow, and I’m a member of the 2015-2016 Cohort. I’m an MCOM Graduate Assistant working in Marketing & Recruitment. As part of my duties, I’ll be updating the blog, maintaining all of our social media accounts, and keeping my finger on the pulse of the MCOM program for YOU!
I earned my B.A. in English, with a Writing and Literacy concentration from IU in 2009. After graduation, I entered the corporate world as a Public Relations Manager with a local non-profit company fighting for the rights of retired teachers at the Statehouse. I absolutely loved it, but was laid off when budget cuts hit our little organization. After that, I began working with a local catering company and café, as their Marketing/Public Relations/Social Media Manager. Working closely with the owners, we were able to create (and maintain) a working strategy that increased the customer base over my four-year tenure.
I’m originally from Greenwood, IN and yes, I’m a Colts fan. I moved to the Charleston area this past summer and am having a blast exploring the lowcountry. Recently, I took a stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) class and was immediately hooked. It’s my new go-to activity, and I will be out on the water any chance I get. I have a dog, named Bella, who moved with me, and I’m teaching her to swim so she can get into the SUP scene with me.
Throughout the year, the MCOM Blog will spotlight members of our amazing faculty and staff in order to give you a general Who’s Who in the Communication Department, specifically the Master of Arts in Communication (MCOM) Program. We would also like to spotlight our different MCOM Scholars – both past and present – so if you’re working on a fun project or have an exciting accomplishment (academic or professional) that you’d like to share, please contact me. Finally, we are also planning on doing a monthly “Ask A Grad” post, so if there are any questions you have regarding the MCOM Program, please let me know. I can be contacted via email at snowsm@g.cofc.edu
We’re doing great things here in the MCOM Program, and we cannot wait to share our accomplishments with you.
Till next time…
GO COUGARS!!!!!!
