Compensation: $21/hour
Description: Research Assistant will assist with organizing and preparing a manuscript of edited interviews for submission (Conversations with Filmmakers: Julie Dash). The RA will assist as needed with manuscript organization, interview transcription, fact checking research, generating a bibliography, and general editing and formatting tasks. Organizing and securing copyright permissions from media outlets and contributors is also part of the job duties. The RA will be acknowledged in print in the final publication’s acknowledgements.
Supervisor: The Research Assistant will be supervised by Dr. Kameelah Martin, the manuscript editor. The position will begin with an orientation and schedule of tasks, have bi-weekly meetings with supervisor and end the semester with an evaluation.
Qualification: The qualified candidate will be currently enrolled in a Graduate Program at the College and have strong writing/editing, research, and organizational skills. Competency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required (Note: training can be arranged). Knowledge of Chicago Style Manual, copyright permissions, and academic publishing is a plus. Must be available for bi-weekly meetings during regular business hours. Preferred qualifications: English or History degree programs.
