ENGL 552: Young Adult Literature

This course will introduce you to the amazing variety of young adult literature currently available. Activities will include whole-class and small-group readings, but the emphasis will be on reading and discussing self-selected novels and nonfiction books across a range of genres and formats, with the goal of becoming familiar with as many books and authors as possible, so you can recommend appropriate books to students for independent reading. Other activities will focus on ways to advertise, talk about, and teach young adult novels in middle and secondary classrooms.
