I graduated from College of Charleston in 2000 with a BA in English and took the English MA in 2003. Today, I am an associate professor of English at the University of Houston–Downtown where I direct our MA program in Rhetoric and Composition (C of C grads are encouraged to apply!). My research areas include rhetorical theory, political philosophy, and popular culture. I am particularly interested in renovating ancient rhetorical concepts such as doxa and metanoia for the analysis of contemporary discursive phenomena. College of Charleston was a fantastic place to study: the close attention from the professors and small class sizes were central to my early development as a writer and a thinker. Fond memories and best wishes!
