Three Weeks in Greece with the Sea Turtles? Yes Please!

The Center for Civic Engagement is offering a 2025 Maymester Alternative Break trip to Greece focused on wildlife rehabilitation and sustainable Tourism.

Alternative Break? An immersive educational travel experience that connects students with thought leaders and community organizations who are serving their communities in forward-thinking ways.

The Maymester Trip: Travel to Zakynthos, Greece from May 23 – June 11, 2025, and support sea turtle conservation efforts on the island. During the trip participants take part in strong direct service, educational programing, daily reflection, and leadership development.

  • Learn More: There’s a drop-in AB Greece 2025 information session Thursday on November 7th from 11:00 am- 2:30pm in Lightsey 203 for those who would like to learn more or have any questions.

Apply for a Fully Funded Internship/Study Abroad This Summer!

Applications for the 2025 Douglass-O’Connell Global Internship are now open!

The Opportunity: The Douglass-O’Connell Global Internship is an eight-week program promoting freedom, equality, social justice, and economic mobility, giving students the opportunity to attend lectures on the history of social change in Ireland, participate in extracurricular and networking activities, and intern with a host company that aligns with their skills and career goals.

Details: 12 exceptional student leaders will be selected for a transformative summer internship program in Dublin, Ireland, where they will draw inspiration from the legacies of two remarkable social justice leaders: Frederick Douglass and Daniel O’Connell. Co-sponsored by CIEE, the Government of Ireland, and the African American Irish Diaspora Network all program costs are covered, including housing and airfare. Students will also receive a stipend for their time on the program.

Paid Summer Opportunity: Summer sitter for 10 and 7 year-old boys

Looking for a summer gig? An MUSC physician is seeking a summer sitter to provide in-home childcare in West Ashley and transportation to summer camps for 10 and 7 year-old boys (2).

  • The hours would be 8:15 to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. Salary is $500/week.
