Join an AI Solutions Hackathon with IBM Granite

Enter IBM’s virtual Lean AI Solutions Hackathon and grow your skills, work in a team, and win prizes!

The Challenge: In this hackathon, you will use IBM Granite to build a proof-of-concept solution to align with one out of two possible themes:

  • Making work less boring, or
  • Decent work and economic growth

Details: This virtual hackathon will take place from April 24th through May 5th. You’re invited to network with peers and form a team in the time leading up to the event. Access to necessary tools, including watsonx services on IBM Cloud, will be provided. All experience levels are welcome.

Research Opportunity in Translational Spine Project at CofC/MUSC

Dr. Sarah Porto is seeking a research assistant to help with an NIH-funded study investigating the effect of amyloid deposition on spine mechanics and tissue integrity.

The Research: Gain laboratory research experience with tissue dissection, cell and molecular biology techniques (i.e., immunohistochemistry with confocal microscopy, histology, and proteomics), tissue culture, biochemical and biomechanical testing, and preparation of experimental results for presentation and publication.

Registration for the University of South Carolina’s Big Data Health Science Student Case Competition, and a chance at a $5000 prize, is open!

Details: The USC Big Data Health Science Student Case Competition provides enthusiastic teams of graduate and/or senior undergraduate students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge to the analysis of big datasets in healthcare. Each participating team will analyze the case and datasets to be released on Friday, February 7th, 2025, at noon EST. During this period, team members will work together to present their methods, analyses, and results at the Big Data Health Science Center Case Competition virtually.
