The Osgood Center for International Studies has two opportunities available for students of all majors!

The International Studies Program is pleased to announce, together with the School of Languages, Cultures, & World Affairs that the application process for a great opportunity to learn more about global leadership and to engage in professional development in 2023 is now open.

The Osgood Center for International Studies in Washington DC has partnered with CofC to make it possible for a select number of students from the College to attend their Leadership Program in January 2023.

The Osgood Center for International Studies is also selecting candidates for a professional development program the Osgood Center is offering in the spring and summer.

The deadline for the Osgood Center Leadership Institute is November 21, 2022. The deadline for the professional development program is January 1, 2023.

Internship Opportunity at Knowledge Capital Group

Local healthcare consulting firm Knowledge Capital Group [KCG] seeks a dynamic, motivated, and detail-oriented student with a healthy desire to grow in a challenging, respectful, and diversified work environment.

The opportunity: Responsibilities will include general office management duties, supporting staff on client deliverable production, conducting industry research and analysis, and other tasks as needed. The intern will interface with all members of the team and will report directly to Honors alumna Misty Antonacci, Consultant.

Great fit for: Students interested in marketing, communications, business administration, mathematics, public health.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a Senior [preferred] or Junior in the College of Charleston Honors College
  • Marketing and graphic design experience a plus
  • Business writing experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products; experience with MS Outlook a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization skills and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under deadlines/time constraints

Compensation: $11.50/hour Between 8-12 hours/week on average

Goldman Sachs Lunch Event

Representatives from Goldman Sachs will be visiting the Business School as part of the School of Business Investment Program’s Goldman Sachs Day event.

The Representatives would like to meet with underrepresented groups on campus to illuminate the need for increased diversity in the industry and point participants to opportunities available to underrepresented groups.

This event will take place in the Tate Gallery (School of Business – 5 Liberty Street) from 12:00pm t0 1:30pm on November 9th.

First-Gens in Tech 2022

HubSpot’s annual First-Gens in Tech Event is an experience for first-generation individuals interested in learning more about what it really means to work in the tech industry.

The tech industry continues to be one of the fastest-growing industries globally, and there are so many job opportunities in tech just waiting to be filled.

This year’s event will focus on helping students understand which roles will help them break into tech, learn how to combat and overcome imposter syndrome, and gain tips to help them land their first job in tech!

Compensation 101 Alumni Panel

Compensation 101: How Employers Determine Your Worth, How to Negotiate & Alumni Mega Panel. 

Next Wednesday, October 26th, the Career Center is hosting an Alumni panel discussing compensation for employment opportunities.

This event is open to all students and is from 5:00pm to 7:30pm in Stern Ballroom.

This opportunity is great for all students, specifically students expecting job offers in the coming year.

This will be a great way to learn about the reality of life after college and understand what makes a competitive employment offer. Students will also learn from Alumni as they share insights on their companies, what goes into an offer letter, and other perks students should be on the lookout for!

Winthrop University U.S. Dept. of Ed TRiO Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement projects

Winthrop McNair Scholars offers a paid summer research internship ($2800), summer room & board, and faculty mentoring. McNair Scholars present their research at a national conference, and many have earned national awards for their presentations.

Additionally, Winthrop’s McNair program pays for students’ travel to conferences, graduate school fairs, graduate school test prep & fees, graduate school application fees, and more! 

Winthrop’s McNair Scholars produce award winning research and go on to succeed in highly competitive graduate programs. This past summer, Winthrop students earned 25% of all of the awards at the Winthrop conference, 62.5% of the 8 first place awards, and 83% of the first place awards for the 6 categories in which they competed.

McNair Scholars receive guidance throughout the graduate application and interview process as well as help finding funding for graduate study. More information about the program is available here!

Applications are accepted year-round, but the deadline for priority consideration this year is Oct. 17. Recommendations are due by Oct. 24.
