Calling all South Carolina college students! Compete for thousands in cash prizes 4th Annual SC Innovates Pitch Competition.

How it Works: Students from across SC pitch a promising business idea or social enterprise. 15 semi-finalists from across the state advance to an in-person finale where $10,000 in cash prizes will be doled out.

Great fit for: Everyone! Great ideas aren’t limited by your major. You can enter as an individual or as part of a team with up to four members.

How to Apply: 5-slide pitch deck + 90-second video by Friday, September, 29.

Hack the Harbor at the 2023 HarborHack Hackathon

Charleston Hacks hosts a weekend long hackathon open to the entire community and focused on fostering innovation and collaboration.

When: Friday, October 6 – Sunday, October 8.

The Opportunity: HarborHack is a dynamic event where individuals from all different backgrounds and skill levels work together to develop solutions to real-world problems. This includes software developers, designers, business professionals, subject matter experts, entrepreneurs, and students.

Great Fit For: No prior experience necessary! Anyone interested in technology, innovation, and social impact will have a blast. It’s a great chance to learn, gain real experience, and to meet new people.

The SC Washington Semester Program is accepting applications for Spring 2024

The Washington Semester Program (WSP) offers South Carolina college students the opportunity to spend a semester working and taking classes in Washington D.C., gaining valuable experience while earning academic credit toward their degrees.

The opportunity: Live/Learn/Work. Students live in a historic Capital Hill neighborhood, explore the city through group excursions, all while taking 15 credit hours.

  • 9 credit hours are applied towards a full-time internship in congressional, executive, judicial or private sector offices, which can be applied towards your Honors Immersed requirement.

Great fit for: Many CofC Honors students have participated and thrived in this program over the years, with backgrounds ranging from political science to economics to international studies to public health. Participants get firsthand experience with the political process, obtaining skills that will help prepare them for careers in virtually any sphere.

Scholarships available: The program allocates support for students who demonstrate financial need and awards over $10,000 each year in scholarships.

Welcome Back Ice Cream Social hosted by the Honors Student Association

The Honors Student Association is welcoming everyone back to campus with refreshing frozen treats!

The event: An ice cream social on Friday, August 23 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.

Where’s the ice cream? You’ll pick up your ice cream at our new offices on the first floor of Randolph Hall, suite 102, then enjoy it on the Green Way outside the Honors Center (10 Green Way).

What to expect: Stop by to reconnect with old friends, make some new ones, and enjoy some frozen treats on us!

  • All are welcome, as HSA events are open to all CofC students (so bring your friends!).

No RSVP necessary, just stop by for some frozen fun!

Become a climate changemaker on the EPA’s National Environmental Youth Advisory Council

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is soliciting applications for the National Environmental Youth Advisory Council (NEYAC).

About the NEYAC: A first-of-its-kind federal advisory committee that provides independent advice and recommendations on how to increase EPA’s efforts to address a range of environmental issues as they relate to youth communities.

Benefits: Provide a critical perspective on how the impacts of climate change and other environmental harms affect youth communities.

Great Fit For: Anyone passionate about the environment and impacting climate change.
