Volleyball Fundraiser on Oct. 21 supports the Magee-Womens Research Institute

On Saturday, October 21st, the CofC volleyball team is holding a Pink-Out Event to support the Magee-Womens Research Institute and Foundation, the country’s largest women’s research institute!

Details: During CofC’s Oct. 21 volleyball game against Elon (games starts at 1:00 p.m.), there will be a raffle where prize baskets can be won for small donations.

ENSS Major Informational Meeting

All students are invited to attend an informational session to learn more about the new Environmental and Sustainability Studies major!

Details: The meeting will include an overview of the new major, its options (B.A. and B.S.), how to decide if the major is a good fit for you, and next steps you can take including courses for spring and beyond. There will also be time to ask questions, hear others’ questions, and meet fellow ENSS students.

  • On Thursday, October 19th, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. (you are welcome to drop in for part of the time)

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Info Session

Interested in learning a new language? Want an immersive study abroad experience? The CLS Program is an intensive, overseas language and cultural immersion program for American college students.

Details: CLS recipients spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

For More Info: The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards will hold a CLS info session on Thursday, October 19th, at 3:30 pm in Maybank 320.

Who Should Be Interested: Any students are encouraged to apply, especially those whose study of a critical language relates to their academic field of interest and future career goals.

Join the Honors College for a free tour of the International African American Museum

The Honors College Signature Series is offering honors students a free guided tour of the International African American Museum in downtown Charleston.

When/Where: Saturday, October 28 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the IAAM (14 Wharfside St.).

The Tour: Explore the untold stories of the African American journey at one of our country’s most sacred sites. The International African American Museum documents the journey that began in Africa centuries ago and continues today. Experience exhibits, stories, and history of trauma, truth, and triumph at Charleston’s newest museum.

  • The tour will be personalized for the Honors College and led by Dr. Felice Knight, the museum’s Director of Education.
