Honors Engaged is inspired by the principles of civic engagement, and informed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and locally-sourced data. 

The end goal of Honors Engaged is not to solve a critical issue, but to make a contribution to the solution which may be short- or long-term in nature.  Our role is to listen and find ways to support actions and solutions formulated by affected persons and communities. Many times this means physically working alongside organizations and individuals embedded in a social justice initiative to promote their mission. At other times this means engaging in behind-the-scenes work with a community or campus organization, such as collaborating on research and data analysis or planning events and advocacy campaigns.
