We Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

Aside from celebrating our day off from work and school this Monday, we need to celebrate the life of one of the most iconic men in American history. Best known for his involvement and non-violent methods in the Civil Rights Movement, King helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial discrimination. He is also well known for his “I had a Dream” speech that he gave at the 1963 March on Washington. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established as a federal holiday in 1986. So as you are enjoying your relaxing day off, take a few minutes to think of and honor this truly wonderful and accomplished man.
