Great Veggies Without The Heat

Now that we’re in the full swing of Charleston summer, we are all experiencing just how hot and humid this area really is. You can’t even walk outside without your sunglasses fogging up and breaking a minor (or major) sweat. For some, it can be unbearable, for others, it means beach weather. However, the thought of spending time outside other than in the sand with a cool, beach breeze can sometimes be too much to handle. Unfortunately, this may prevent a lot of people from attending the farmers’ market in downtown Charleston on Saturday mornings. While this is an excellent place to pick up fresh fruits and veggies and to check out some great local artwork, it is just plain HOT.

Luckily, there are other markets in town. The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market at Moultrie Middle School on Coleman Blvd. is held on Tuesdays from 3:30 until dusk. You can arrive around 6 or 7 and still get some great produce while avoiding suffering the intense sun and heat. You can also have dinner there, as there are multiple food vendors, including a great crepe stand! So whether you’re an avid local produce consumer or just looking for something different to do on a Tuesday evening, head over to the Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market to get great produce while supporting local farmers.
