Summer Internship with MSLGroup
MSL is currently seeking interns to join our growing Washington, D.C. office this summer. We’re looking for a bright, talented individual who understands the secret to great client relationships and their on-going development. You’ll receive extensive experience in the world of communications, and will be involved in executing integrated campaigns across multiple communications channels. We work for some of the world’s most prestigious companies, offering a variety of exciting communications challenges.
Duration: 8-12 weeks (May/June 2019 – August 2019)
Pay: This is a full-time, paid internship.
Assignment: You will be assigned to work a variety of account teams and projects. You will also work with your fellow Insiders on a competitive project (completing a PR/integrated marketing program for one of our clients).
Mentor: A mentor will be appointed to guide you throughout the summer.
Training: You will participate in a robust Summer Learning Series, featuring topics such as brainstorming, writing a PR plan, presenting with impact and leveraging digital/social media.
Sample of Daily Responsibilities:
- Daily monitoring of media for news and information about our clients.
- Development of media lists.
- Writing press releases, blogs, plans, fact sheets, pitch letters, case studies.
- Participating in brainstorming, office activities, staff meetings and client meetings as well as ensuring overall client satisfaction.
- Researching and assisting with program and presentation development for existing clients and new prospects.
- Participating in social networking for clients and follow influential bloggers/writers.
- Executing tactical elements of client programs from start to finish.
- Executing PR plans and tactical digital elements from start to finish.
- Social media community management, content creation, scheduling and strategy.
- Creation and execution of digital advertising plans across multiple platforms.
- Analysis and reporting from Google Analytics, Google AdWords and social media monitoring tools.
- Execution of thorough social media listening plans.
Criteria for Applicants:
- Completed their junior year(rising seniors) or a recent graduate(December 2018 – May 2019) of undergraduate college;
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher; and
- Solid media relations and excellent writing skills; and
- Great attention to detail, enthusiasm, organization, multi-tasking and desire to be a team player.
- Creative thinker that is paying attention to what other brands and industries are doing.
- Creative storytelling capabilities.
- Proactive in following through with deadlines for media and clients.
- Works well in a team environment.
- A strong understanding of the relationship between traditional public relations and the use of current online/digital technology and social media;
- Baseline understanding of SEO, social media strategy and digital advertising;
- Excellent writing skills; and
- Great attention to detail, enthusiasm, organization, multi-tasking and desire to be a team player.

- Proactive in following through with deadlines for media and clients.
- Works well in a team environment.
Interns will periodically be asked to assist our receptionist with managing the front desk and special events.
