Position Description: The Graphic Design and Communications Coordinator works with the Chief Culture, Strategy, and Communications Officer to further the mission of St. John’s by providing visual and written communications support for digital, social, and print mediums for the School.
Key Accountabilities:
- The Graphic Design and Communications Coordinator’s responsibilities include:
- Designing School’s visual communications, graphic design elements, and brand elements for print, digital, and social platforms;
- Designing and updating collateral including branded headers, icons, advertisements, brochures, and signage as well as printing and/or modification/re-design of existing pieces;
- Coordinating the School’s news process and distribute the weekly e-newsletter;
- Coordinating the creation, management, and maintenance of St. John’s social media presence to tell our story, build community, and celebrate our successes;
- Coordinating and maintaining the design and content of the School’s website including: page design, content posting, branding, special online programs, e-newsletters, and the online functionality;
- Supporting the School’s magazine and annual report processes;
- Other duties as assigned.

- Establish and maintain productive partnership relationships with colleagues and parents.
- Collaborate with the Chief Culture, Strategy, and Communications Officer, Chief Enrollment Management Officer, Director of Development, Parents Association Liaison, and other members of the Administration.

- Network with peers at other independent and Episcopal schools locally and nationally.
- Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Attend conferences and professional meetings to remain current with communications and marketing initiatives.
- Participate in the local and national independent and Episcopal schools accrediting associations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field of study
- At least two to three years of experience in Strategic Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
- Advanced understanding and ability to use computers and technology including websites, social media, email functions, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Windows, HTML, and basic office equipment
- Proficient with photography mediums – camera phones, cameras
- Experience with Finalsite products is preferred
- Independent school experience helpful
- Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in an Episcopal school environment
- Personal characteristics such as a friendly attitude, good judgment, honesty, tactfulness, and initiative are essential
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Regularly works in standard office conditions and climate
- Regularly works at a computer screen for extended periods of time
- Occasionally required to move around the office
- Works at a desk for extended periods of time and occasionally moves around campus
- Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 30 lbs. across the campus/office
- Regularly works in a stressful environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
- Ability to periodically work flexible hours to meet deadlines and support before and after-school or weekend events
