Social Media Manager/Broadcast Producer (Summer 2019)

The High Point-Thomasville HiToms are in search of a driven undergraduate college student looking for experience in sports broadcasting and marketing to join their summer internship program for the 2019 baseball season.

The HiToms are a summer college league baseball team that competes in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) comprised of teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.

The intern selected would focus primarily on social media marketing and broadcast production for the HiToms. Last season, CPL and the HiToms introduced video streaming broadcasts as part of their media coverage. We chose to take this to the next level and introduce a multi-camera broadcast setup, featuring TV-style graphics and production value. We expect to only improve those measures this year.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
  • Have some form of experience in one or more of the following areas—TV or radio broadcasting production, videography, social media management, or public relations.
  • Have some form of experience with video/photo/audio editing techniques and software (ex: Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Audition, etc.).
  • Love the game of baseball and be dedicated to promoting its growth through the HiToms organization and the surrounding community.

Duties will include:

  • Serving as the primary broadcast engineer and producer for HiTom home games broadcasts. This will include camera operation, sound checks, and more. On-air time could be a possibility for the right candidate.
  • Cutting video highlights within games to post to social media accounts and push out to local news organizations.
  • Assisting the broadcasting and media relations director with brainstorming and filming weekly videos for HiTom social media accounts.
  • Managing social media accounts of the HPT HiToms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and posting daily content from HiTom games and events, including live-tweeting games and utilizing videos on all platforms.
  • Travelling with the team on select road games to live-tweet and post creative and informative updates to social media accounts.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the Coastal Plain League and its other members.

Application deadline: February 15

Compensation: $20 per home game (approximately 30 home games)
