Social Media and Marketing Internship with Pet Helpers (Spring 2019)

Description and Learning Objective: Pet Helpers seeks a dynamic intern to assist social media and marketing efforts. This internship is a great opportunity to learn about social media and marketing while working for a well-respected non-profit organization.

The internship will prepare the student for a position in social media marketing with a non-profit organization and help develop the skills needed to promote and market a company within a marketing or public relations department.

Responsibilities 

  • Social media posts and additional marketing materials to reach the Pet Helpers audience.
  • Take photos of new animals that enter the shelter and share throughout social media through daily unique posts and videos.
  • Collaboration with departments on new ideas to reach target audiences (ie ACTS, Shelter Director, Fund-Development Manager, Adoptions Manager).
  • Organization and maintenance of photos and images we frequently utilize for community outreach, which will result in a photo library.
  • Performing data analysis of social medial, determine the effectiveness of which types of postings are more effective, raise more money, etc.
  • Administrative duties as needed to assist the admin office.

Qualifications 

  • Enrolled in third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree in Marketing/Communications or Public Relations; available 12-15 hours per week
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented; professional and effective communications, both written and oral
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in social media and Microsoft Office
  • The ability to work independently and with team members
  • Dependability, flexibility; the ability to work well under pressure
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of Pet Helpers
