With Who: National Public Radio (NPR)

Dates: Fall 2020
Position Description: NPR Ed focuses on how learning happens in America, through radio stories, blog posts, various forms of multimedia and through social media. You will be reporting to NPR’s Senior Education Editor, who leads the team’s daily and long-term efforts.
You will work with our 8-member team, pitching and researching stories, writing for NPR.org and the NPR Ed newsletter, helping correspondents line up interviews for their stories and helping the editorial team plan and strategize. You may even help the team launch the next phase of the NPR Student Podcast Challenge.
We are looking for people passionate about education and this job will involve real hands-on experience. It’s an opportunity for you to bring curiosity and ideas, to help us meet tight deadlines online and for radio.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Writing blog post for our website, and writing for our weekly newsletter.
- Researching and fact checking stories.
- Booking interviews.
- Assisting NPR reporters and correspondents with production.
Required Skills:
- Proficient writing skills.
- Attention to details and accuracy.
- An interest and/or knowledge in education issues.
Preferred Skills:
- Some newsroom experience.
- A basic knowledge in audio production.
