EnvisionSC: (EnvisionSC.org) is a non-profit initiative begun EnvisionSC was begun in 2012 as an initiative of the College of Charleston to foster new ideas and initiatives to make South Carolina “world class and globally connected.” In 2014, we launched our flagship project, World Class Scholars a real-time online, cultural and educational exchange connecting schools in South Carolina and schools around the world.

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Communications Assistant will manage most of the ongoing communications activities of EnvisionSC. The duties will generally included

  • Email newsletters – writing and producing the bi-weekly email newsletter and distribution via the Salsa Labs technology
  • List management – compiling and managing the email list / contact data base of those interested in EnvisionSC (currently less than 2,000)
  • Media Research – a survey of newspapers in the state to determine which ones carry the weekly column of EnvisionSC co-founder Phil Noble
  • Arrange Interviews – for EnvisionSC staff with local media outlets
  • Promotional materials – writing and editing various promotional materials
  • Website / Social Media – maintenance and expansion of website and social media operations of EnvisionSC and the PhilNoble.com site (in development)
  • Media Analytics – develop and manage an ongoing data analytics capability of all related digital media

Skills / Abilities: The successful candidate will be:

  • Committed to the goals of EnvisionSC of promoting innovation and new ideas for South Carolina
  • A self-starter who can work with a minimal amount of ongoing supervision to achieve assigned tasks within deadlines
  • Reasonable technology skills required to fulfill the tasks above – or the ability to learn skills quickly
  • Flexible and adaptive personality that can work in an occasionally demanding work environment
  • A positive and optimistic person who can work effectively with a ‘virtual’ team
