New Job: PR Assistant for Charleston County Main Library

PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSISTANT-MAIN LIBRARY: This is a temporary part time position, twenty-nine (29) hours per week supervised by the Public Relations/Marketing Manager.

Duties include: merge, format, fact check, proofread and edit CCPL’s event and programming information received from the branches and departments each month; including contacting the branches and departments, if needed, to verify information or seek missing information. Develop merged documents of CCPL’s monthly events, and sort the information into various formats required for publicity and promotional needs. Format and post each of the Library’s monthly programs on the Library’s website, and tag them individually by location and program type so they can be accessed within the Library’s searchable online event calendar. Work with staff to post any Web updates, headlines and other information needed on the Library’s website, and schedule social media posts. If required, assist with research and reports needed for special projects, assist with folding/cutting/disseminating printed promotional materials, and provide writing/editing/proofreading assistance. Assist patrons over the phone or in person. Must have excellent computer skills such as those included in the Microsoft Office suite.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications or related fields including a background in writing/editing/proofreading and media relations. Ability to get along well with others and the ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and library staff.

Hiring Salary: $17.78 per hour – twenty-nine (29) hours per week – NO INSURANCE BENEFITS. Closing Date: November 15, 2016
