Position Description: The position of Social Media Manager will help to manage the day to day social media for Lamar University Athletics.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the creation, design and update of graphics, videos and other content for all social media accounts, in conjunction with the marketing staff.
- Assist with game-day photography and videography.
- Assist with creating an overall strategy and brand for our social media accounts.
- Assist with video board graphic creations and print material design.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Lamar University and Texas State University System rules and regulations. A violation of these rules and regulations can lead to disciplinary action including termination.
- Reports Directly to: Assistant Athletics Director for External Affairs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with social media required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a collaborative setting with different constituencies required.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage several projects at one time required.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal, and have the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely required.

- Team player with the ability to work well in a team setting and across diverse groups, organizations and departments required.
- Experience in Collegiate Athletics preferred.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
- Must be detail-oriented, proactive, energetic, curious, creative thinker, trouble shooter and problem solver.
- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and occasional holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, sports management/marketing, or a related field.
- First Aid/CPR Certified
- Mental Health First Aid Training
- Current and Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
- Active COSIDA Membership
- One (1) to three (3) years of directly relatable experience is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, a commitment to gender equity and diversity.
- Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University will not sponsor applicants for employment visas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in communication, journalism, sports management/marketing, or a related field.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of directly relatable experience.
- Background in working with collegiate student-athletes and coaches.
