Position Description: (This is a paid internship.) The Business Development Intern will gain experience in building internal/external relationships with top industry leaders. The intern should be a high-energy, driven professional with strong business acumen, strong technical aptitude, and a desire for success. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic, enthusiastic, and strategic sales team. You will be responsible for seeking new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers, in order to boost sales and contribute to our long-term business growth. You will also gain experience in professional writing and verbal communication as well as international business. This position reports directly to the Director – Sales and Engineering.
The internship will run for 15 weeks in the Spring, from March to June. Start and end dates are flexible based on the intern’s academic year but preferably starting ASAP. Intern will be compensated at $13/hour with possible additional incentive structure.
Duties:

Create and prioritize strategic account and contact lists within our CRM (Salesforce).

Contact potential customers through cold calls, social media, and emails, exceeding an established weekly activity minimum.

Lead follow up from email campaigns.

Present IMO to potential customers, identifying their needs and coordinating a call/meeting with the appropriate Sales Engineer.

Achieve quotas of qualified opportunities (number of opportunities and total pipeline value) and closed business.

Creating opportunities, as well as recording all interactions with prospects and customers within the CRM.

Support marketing in creating collateral pieces.

Any other duties as assigned by Director – Sales and Engineering.

Education and Experience Requirements: Intern should have experience and/or education in Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering or a related field with skills in written and oral communication. Capable of handling high stress while maintaining a positive attitude. Professional appearance, clear speaking voice and excellent interpersonal skills. Computer skills including Microsoft Office software. Familiarity with Salesforce is desired. Ability to close for a next step. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Motivation, drive, and a high energy, positive, self-starting attitude, with a desire for continuous learning. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively. Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
