Corporate Communications Intern – Roper St. Francis Hospital
Job Description:
- Write internal news stories and external press releases
- Shoot photos of events, people, recognitions
- Updating internal news website
- Coordinate recognitions for high-performing employees
- Develop fliers and posters
- Research to strengthen niche publication media placements
- Assist in planning and writing social media content (FB, Twitter, Instagram)
*Qualifications:
- Majoring in journalism/communications/public relations/marketing
- Eager to learn
Learning Objectives (Required for All Internships):
- Ability to write a variety of mass media products, including news stories and press releases, following accepted journalistic standards, including Associated Press style and inverted pyramid format.
- Understand the basic principles of photography, including composition, content and technical aspects.
- Ability to design and layout a variety of mass media products, including fliers and posters, employing contemporary graphic design theory and practices.
- Ability to create new media products, including blog posts, web stories and social media content.
- Ability to function in a professional work environment (show up on time, dress appropriately, meet deadlines, etc.).
Roper St. Francis is the only private, not-for-profit healthcare system in the Lowcountry with a specific focus on community outreach. We have about 5,500 employees, three hospitals and more than 90 facilities and doctor offices.
