Explore the ins and outs of working on the editorial staff of a nationally recognized regional magazine that delves into life in the South Carolina Lowcountry. During their time here, editorial interns gain valuable experience, insight, and understanding as they learn what is required to produce an award-winning monthly magazine and associated digital properties.
Some info about the internship:
Prospective candidates often apply seeking school credit, but we welcome interns of all ages, as well as international applicants. We regularly hire full-time from the internship pool, and the experience is an invaluable crash course in print publishing. Interns don’t get coffee or participate in busy-work—they learn the ins and outs from planning to final shipment, while sharpening skills integral for career-track positions such as copyediting, fact checking, proofing, researching, and transcribing. They are along for the ride in important decisions such as art department aesthetics and layout, with some hands on time with industry-standard software like InDesign and Google Drive. Interns also often get their first bylines by writing for the magazine.
