Position Description: Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Director of Athletic Communication. The Director of Athletic Communication coordinates information management for all NCAA Division III sports and develops original content for print and digital publications in support of athletics marketing. The incumbent also coordinates marketing, promotion, sponsorship and event management efforts of the department. The position is responsible for maximizing the number of positive media hits and minimizing potentially negative communications with respect to athletics. This position is located in River Forest, IL and reports to the Director of Athletics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Digital Media
- Establish strategies and measurable goals for Sports Information, and athletic marketing efforts
- Produce press releases for media and the web site
- Coordinate all athletic photography for games, media guides, and special events
- Manage Social Media for all Athletic programs and department communication, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts
- Work closely with external vendors in maintaining a high quality website
Media
- Produce weekly video interviews with Coaches
- Manage after game interview with coaches and student athletes
- Responsible for contributing information to historical archiving of statistics, rosters, and additional information in assigned sports
- Media placement with targeted and most appropriate media outlets
Game Day coverage
- Serve as Game Day event supervisor and coordinate support staff for home athletic events
- Responsible for scheduling the scorer’s Table – PA announcer, scoreboard and shot clock operators, official scorer, NCAA Stats requirements, and other personnel as needed
- Responsible for effective management, hiring, training and evaluating all student staff, GA’s and interns year round
Assist with fundraising and revenue goals for athletics
- Develop new sponsorships and corporate partners for athletics
- Create and implement within live broadcast of athletic events
- Assist with Athletic Golf Outing event
Responsible for effective communications and promotions of special events, to include students and community involvement,
- Including in-game activities and theme nights
- Coordinate with game crew and game management to provide a positive game day experience
Skill Set: Understanding of all technology related to social media, NCAA reports and live stats information
Minimum Experience Required: 2 years working with college athletics in Athletic Communication area
Education Requirements: Bachelor degree required
Compensation and Benefits: Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
