Internship with the National Partnership for Women & Families (Washington, DC)
Job Description
The National Partnership for Women & Families seeks a Summer 2019 Communications Intern to work within our energetic communications team to elevate the issues of health care, reproductive rights, and fairness in the workplace. Work will include assisting our communications assistant in tracking reporters and press clips, writing and assisting with website materials, attending internal and external meetings including press events, responding to requests for information, analyzing content for current and potential social media properties, updating and analyzing content on our website, prepping emails for our online supporters, and tracking new media trends.
The Communications Intern will acquire a broad background in communications strategy, hone their technology skills, and participate in special projects with program staff. Experience with social media, HTML and Photoshop are a plus but not required. This is a great opportunity for students interested in a career in communications and/or digital media.
During the summer, the National Partnership offers three types of internships:
- Internships for academic-credit, where students receive academic credit from an accredited college or university for a summer internship with the National Partnership. Students who are only receiving academic credit and who spend three or more days per week at the National Partnership will receive a stipend in the amount of $50 per week to defray the cost of transportation and food.
- Internships with remuneration from a third party, where students receive remuneration from a third-party, like their school or another organization, for their participation in an internship program (these students may or may not receive academic credit in addition to remuneration from a third party).
- Internships paid by the National Partnership. The National Partnership has a limited number of paid internship positions during the summer. National Partnership paid interns will be paid $15/hour for up to a 10-week internship.
Start and end dates are flexible.
