Job Scope:
The Business Services team works on multiple development projects to enhance our internal software tools. The technical writer intern will work closely with project managers, system administrators, and developers to correctly and efficiently document enhancements and bug fixes. This role will be a key contributor to the team’s ability to deliver value to our internal customers by providing clear and relevant documentation.
You’re well suited to this role and environment, if you like to work on multiple projects in a fun and fast-paced environment, if you get bored doing the same thing every day, and if you are comfortable learning new technical tools at a rapid pace.
Responsibilities:
- Create product documentation for system administrators and end users.
- Research, write, and ensure the accuracy of content that covers current and future product releases.
- Work closely with multiple development teams in an Agile environment.
- Conduct peer reviews of the documentation.
- Continuously improve the documentation by incorporating feedback from multiple audiences.
- Drive projects to completion within agreed upon timeframes.
- Seek continuous improvement; willing to try new ideas to provide more effective documentation.
- Build and maintain solid cross-functional relationships
- Collaborate with members from various departments within the company to ensure that content is accurate, relevant, and effective for audience and business needs.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a liberal arts, communications, or writing degree path with at least 30 hours or more of upper division coursework completed.
- Has the ability to learn highly technical products quickly using alpha or beta release software and internal documentation and training.
- Has the ability to discern relevant information through independent research, interviews, and experimentation in the software.
- Enjoys problem-solving with minimal assistance.
- Displays an action-oriented attitude and ability to get the job done.
- Can provide a writing sample demonstrating your ability to research, analyze, and apply critical thinking to a technical subject.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
Availability:
- Full-time, throughout summer of 2019 [10-week internship]
- Must be available to start either June 11th or June 25th
Learning Skills/Outcomes:
You will be able to use your writing skills and creativity to help the team take the documentation to the next level.
