AmericasCuisine: Seeks Social Media Intern (Fall 2020)

Dates:  Fall 2020

Hours:  10-12 hours per week

Position Summary:  AmericasCuisine is looking for a motivated Social Media Intern. This is a great opportunity to develop professional experience, add to your portfolio and gain practical real-world experience being part of a creative team.

Required Education:  We are seeking past or present college students who have focused on Public Relations, Communications, Writing/Literature, Marketing, or Mass Media Communications.

Qualifications: 

  • Must have a portfolio showcasing some work in prompt writing, content curation, or blog writing.
  • Photography skills are a plus!
  • Must be residing locally in the greater Charleston area – if you are a Summerville resident that is also a plus.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Contribute content ideas for Instagram and Facebook profiles.
  • Research different marketing strategies & trends.
  • Assist the Social Media Director with cultivating intriguing feeds for each profile.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Social Media Director and Project Manager. Must be comfortable with presenting research findings and contributing ideas at these meetings.
  • Writing articles/blog posts revolving around the Restaurant Industry.
  • Other duties may be assigned depending on skill set.
  • Some office and administrative duties.

Required Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Google Suite
  • Strong blog and/or prompt writing skills
  • Experience in designing for social media a plus
  • Excellent administrative and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Quick learner. Ability to take direction and work independently as well as a member of a team

Notes:  Interns are required to work in our office an average of 10-12 hours per week (time requirements may vary slightly by week). Hours and days are flexible as we will work with your schedule. We are an 8-5, Monday-Friday company, so weekend hours will not be available. Full Remote/offsite work is not an option. However given the current COVID-19 world, we are happy to discuss a part work-from-home, part work-onsite schedule.

What We Are Doing to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19:

  • Virtual Interviews
  • Training through screen share
  • Instant, socially distanced communication through phone calls or Slack.
  • Interns will come to the office once a week, and work in their own private office.
  • Interns are expected to work with a schedule to ensure one person using the Intern Office at a time.
  • Interns will also be expected to wipe down their space (using office-provided cleansing wipes) when they leave for the day.
  • If interns are feeling ill in any way, we ask them to stay home.
  • Masks will be worn in any spaces that social distancing is not possible.
  • AmericasCuisine full time staff has been limited to 3 people working in the building at a time.

Therefore, interns will not come into contact with large groups of people.
