With Who: National Public Radio (NPR)

Position Description: The country is facing unprecedented times: a global pandemic, an economic downturn rivaling the Great Depression and a growing movement for racial justice. It is against that backdrop that Americans will vote in November, and the Washington Desk is working hard to cover it on all of NPR’s platforms. As the NPR Politics fall intern, you will play a key role. The desk intern does research for reporters and producers, maintains our calendar of events, builds clipboards for radio pieces, builds digital story pages, logs interviews, fact-checks the popular NPR Politics Podcast and has the opportunity to write for the web. Candidates must have a demonstrated interest in government and politics.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Maintain the political calendar
- Track candidate statements
- Conduct research for editors and reporters
- Contribute to election briefing books
- Fact-check the NPR Politics Podcast
- Build clipboards, log tape and write digital posts
Required Skills:
- Strong research skills
- Demonstrated interest in government and politics
- Computer literacy
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to learn quickly
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of NPR programming and platforms
