With Who: Department of Communication (College of Charleston)

Position Summary: The Department of Communication is looking for a talented Content Writing and Social Media (Communications) intern to help write stories and highlight our department’s people, events, and offerings. This position is 10 hours a week with a flexible schedule.
Samples Tasks:
- Writing:
- Spotlights and features on students, faculty, staff, and alumni for the department’s social media platforms (e.g. blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Devising catchy games and quick content for weekly communication
- Social Media:
- On-site event social media – take photos/videos, create short and catchy captions
- Pre-create scheduled posts, and their schedule
- Prep work leading up to event to identify potential posts, and be ready for them
Requirements:
- Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior
- Communication major or minor
- Attendance may be required at departmental events from February – May (schedule available upon request, or interview)
- Writing experience required; 2-3 samples of work requested with resume submission
- Courteous, polite, and professional demeanor
- Willingness to learn quickly
Optional:
- Use of personal smart phone would be helpful, but not required
- Use of personal laptop would be helpful, but not required
