Fort Sumter National Monument seeks a dynamic intern to assist outreach and communications efforts. This internship is a great opportunity for personal and professional growth while working for the National Park Service, a federal agency that the American public holds in high esteem.
Responsibilities:
Assist with:
- Creation of social media posts; analyze and report social media analytics
- Creation of external stakeholder contact database, which will support Fort Sumter National Monument’s outreach
- Graphic design, including the creation of posters and flyers for the interpretation division
- Organization of photos and images we frequently utilize for community outreach, which will result in photo libraries for each site
- Creation of an e-newsletter, updating park volunteers, partners, stakeholders, and supporters on programs, projects, events, etc
- Administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Mandatory: Successful candidate must go through a federal background investigation process to gain network/computer access
- Enrolled in second or third year of an undergraduate degree in Communications or History; available 4-5 hours per week
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented; professional and effective communications, both written and oral
- Excellent computer skills with experience in social media, Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and with team members
- Enthusiasm for the mission of the National Park Service
