Social Media Intern for MUSC Women’s Health Program

MUSC Women’s Reproductive Behavioral Health Program: Social Media Intern

The MUSC Women’s Reproductive Behavioral Health Program serves women who are pregnant or postpartum with psychiatric and substance use disorders.  Patients can receive a complete psychiatric evaluation at our weekly walk-in clinic. Upon diagnosis, patients can receive treatment including psychotherapy and medication management, if appropriate.  Of particular interest to our program is opioid use during pregnancy.  Women who have chronic pain and/or may be using, misusing or abusing prescription pain medication during pregnancy can learn alternative strategies to deal with their pain. Our team includes 2 psychiatrists, 4 psychiatry residents, a therapist , and a research coordinator.

Project Description: We are starting a social media campaign (Facebook) to destigmatize opioid use disorder and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. We hope the campaign will identify more women with opioid use disorder and mood/anxiety disorders and help get them into treatment. We also hope the campaign will help us identify potential participants for current and future research studies. Our team hopes to evaluate the social media program as well.

Intern Tasks:

  • Gather information on opioid use disorder and perinatal mood & anxiety disorders
  • Create Facebook posts
  • Work with the MUSC Marketing department to geotarget posts to our target population
  • Assist with IRB submission
  • Assist with program evaluation
