Do wineries need to go digital?

  1. I see the point of needing to go digital because everything sort of does these days. But, the in-person experience of a winery is something that is just unbeatable!!!

  2. Although technology has made our lives easier, it’s taken away many personal aspects of our day to day lives that were important. Not everything needs to be digitalized. The beauty in a winery is within the experience, making it digital would take away the importance of a personal wine tour. People want to feel as though their experience is rare and special but whats rare or special about a tour thats easily accessible to the entire internet?

  3. It is highly important that wineries utilize the highest utilizations of technology if they are competing against vineyards who also do so .However, this article was insightful by personal perspective. I have been to wineries in Napa Valley that are able to curate exceptional wines, by also showing their advanced technologies and their processes of fermentation, bottling, corking, filtering, distributing, etc. And yes, these advanced technologies make this process easier to distribute and also to produce. However, when I visited wineries in Tuscany, I idolized the family- branded and hard physical work that went into the winemaking and distributing process. I enjoyed seeing how there was not a ton of technology involved, which kept their branding very authentic. I am curious if other people feel the same way. It is important that wineries seek profitable market strategies via supply and demand, but how much technology really needs to be involved?

  4. Before reading the article my first thought is that wineries should absolutely be digital. It bridges the gap between the people who want to visit wineries and cannot afford it and those who want to go and have the means but do not have the time.
After reading it I was happy that the same sentiments were felt. I especially understood the thought of feeling ripped off because of how terrible the wine tasted.

  5. I completely disagree with the idea of wineries going digital. I understand that technology can make things easier for consumers, but wineries are an experience that you just have to have in person. It feels like industries are just doing what they can to make the most money and not to honor the history and celebratory factors of these wineries. I hope that they can honor that and stay away from digital wineries.
