Peace & Justice Internship: Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach

Columbans believe that we achieve true solidarity with marginalized communities and the exploited earth by challenging the structural causes of poverty, violence, and all forms of injustice. One way we can do this is by working to change policies that cause injustice and implement alternatives that uphold human dignity and care for our common home. The Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach (CCAO) invites you to Washington, DC to learn how to bring the good news of peace and justice to policymakers in government and to leaders in your own community.
Each intern will specialize in one of our four critical issues, and will do a mix of policy and communications work. By participating in our “Peace & Justice Internship,” you will…
  • deepen your faith in light of the Gospels, Catholic Social Teaching, and the experience of marginalized communities and the exploited earth; (Please note that even though CCAO makes frequent use of Catholic Social Teaching and our experience as people of faith as the foundation for our work, participants from any faith tradition, or no faith tradition, are welcome to apply.)
  • broaden your understanding of the critical issues of our time;
  • and equip yourself with the tools and best practices for advocacy.

Application deadline is MARCH 31. For more information about this internship or to apply, click the button below.

Gender and Open Government Internship: Results for Development Institute

R4D is seeking an intern to join the Accountability and Citizen Engagement team, supporting the Feminist Open Government Initiative. This individual will work directly on advancing gender equality and inclusion across a project with the Open Government Partnership. The Feminist Open Government Initiative uses research and action to encourage governments and civil society to champion initiatives leading to gender advancements in transparency, accountability, and participation.  Open government is an underexplored tool to accelerate gender equality and close critical gaps in information, access, and participation.
And when women are absent from open government, so is the knowledge and skills that limit the potential of ambitious reforms that will impact daily lives. Yet, women’s participation and gender perspectives in OGP is uneven around the world. Only 54 OGP commitments include a gender focus – representing less than 2% of the 3,000 commitments made by national and local governments.
