PROGRAM FEES

The comprehensive program fee of $6,900* includes:

• Round-trip airfare from Charleston to Madrid, Spain
• Room and board with Spanish families
• Hotel accommodations and 2 meals/day during program excursions
• Entrance fees to various sites while on excursions
• International Health Insurance
• $150 non-refundable application fee

Costs not included in the program fee are:

• CofC tuition and fees at the in-state or out-of-state rate
• passport
• personal expenses.

Note–The College of Charleston Financial Aid website estimates that the typical cost of room and board at CofC this year is $6380 per semester (link to cost estimate).  The program in Spain is only a few hundred dollars more than this.

Since you won’t be paying for room and board in Charleston when you’re in Spain,  these costs can go toward the program fee.  The trip is a GREAT bargain when you consider that the program fee includes a round-trip plane ticket to Spain, weekly day trips, and class-related overnight excursions. If you receive a scholarship for the program, you can actually save money by going to Spain!

*On campus housing cost = average price for a double room at the College.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

• Financial aid and scholarships typically awarded through CofC can be used for this program. Students should meet with a representative of the Office of Financial Assistance and Veteran Affairs to discuss their individual financial aid package. Additional scholarships of $500 to $2,500 from the Center for International Education are available to degree-seeking CofC students who study abroad for academic credit. Eligibility is based on demonstrated financial need and academic merit.
