Day 4

July 8, 2023 – Day 4

Today some of the other students and I went shopping. We took the metro to a popular shopping spot in Barcelona. Later in the evening we all got ready and went to dinner. It was a late dinner and we didn’t realize that almost all dinner spots closed early Sunday through Tuesday so we almost missed all open dinner places. We eventually found a spot and had a quick dinner. After we ate we went to go home and realized the metro was closed. We were able to get a taxi back to the hotel and that concluded our day. We have learned many important life skills in such a short amount of time, I’m excited to see what the rest of the trip holds!

Day 3

July 7, 2023 – Day 3

Today we visited Parc Grüell. We took the metro fairly close to the park, and walked the rest of the way there. We hiked up the steepest stairs I’ve ever been on, it looked super daunting at first but we made it up. The park was stunning and had the best views of Barcelona. I would recommend it to anyone who is visiting.

Day 2

July 6, 2023 – Day 2

We started off the day by conquering public transportation to get to our first meeting at Estoko. We weren’t provided with a physical address of the company, so as we walked around getting different directions from different locals, we basically took a walking tour of Parc Logistic. Never the less we persevered and used problem solving skills and team work to eventually find the company! We learned about the logistics start up and toured the 3D Incubator. We then enjoyed a nice lunch. After lunch we went to the market and learned about the history and see all the vendors. After that we concluded the day at Sagrada Família. It was beyond beautiful and I really enjoyed learning all the history. Overall it was another successful day!

Day 1

July 6, 2023 – Day 1

Today we arrived to Barcelona. Marga picked us up at the airport and was lovely. She told us about the area and her background as we waited for Nik to get off her flight. We got on the bus and traveled to the hotel. There Marga gave us more information on the area. From there the students walked down the street of the hotel and tried local food and got to know one another better! Then Marga gave us a gracious tour on how to use the metro. We had the best welcome dinner to follow at My Way! It was a successful first evening.

Day 4

07/09/2023

Day 4

-We slept in this morning which was so nice.

-Elizabeth and I went to eat a late lunch at a tapas place and sat outside.

-We went shopping, and then we got gelato and it was delicious!

-After we got gelato, we came back to the hotel to get ready for a late dinner.

-The group and I walked around and tried to find a nice restaurant but all the kitchens were closed. We finally found a small restaurant, and I got a burger and potatoes bravos. After dinner, we went back to the hotel and went to sleep.

Day 3

07/08/2023

Day 3

-It was so nice being able to see the sunrise this morning.

Around 2 pm, we made our way to Park Güell. It was quite the workout and also very hot; however, it was beautiful. We had a yummy lunch there as well.

-After the park, we walked around and went into some shops.

Day 2

07/07/2023

Day 2

-We started day by off taking the metro station to Estoko, a logistics startup company. It started about two years ago. The pandemic did not affect the start up of the company which was shocking to me. Another thing that was shocking to me is that only 20-25% of the companies revenue comes from transportation, and the remainder comes from all the warehouses. We also talked about the company’s 3D incubator. We got to see many printers and how they work.

-We got to go to a nice lunch with the group which was delicious.

-After lunch, we met Marga at the market, and we all walked around. Everything looked so delicious especially the chocolate strawberry kabobs. Marga was so sweet and got us all souvenirs that we got to pick out. I picked out a bottle of olive oil in a pretty bottle for my mom, and I got a super spicy hot sauce for my dad.

-After the market, we went to the Sagrada Familia. It was beautiful! The left entrance was St Joseph’s entrance, the middle one was Jesus, and the right one was Mary. The inside was beautiful with all the light shining through the colored windows.

Day 1

07-06-2023

Day 1

-Arriving in Barcelona was beautiful to see as we were landing. It is much more of a city than I thought.

-One of my favorite things about traveling (especially abroad) is meeting new people. As soon as Elizabeth and I landed, we met Matt, who is a part of our study abroad group. It was so fun and easy meeting and talking to him! Next, we met Summer, which was also so easy and fun. We stuck together, and we got to the hotel together and had lunch.

-As soon as we got to meet everyone else, it was like an instant connection with everyone, and I knew we were going to all get along and have a great time!

-Another one of my favorite reasons as to why I love traveling is because I am a big foodie! I love trying new food because I feel like it really gives an insight about the culture. I was amazed at how many bakeries there are here. Obviously, we went to a bakery, and I got a fresh plain croissant and a chocolate croissant. Of course, they were delicious.

-Another thing I learned so far was that Spaniards (and probably other European cultures), do not drink iced coffee.

-It was so fun exploring the town with everyone that I had met so far, and we got to see a lot of Barcelona while walking everywhere.

-To end off the night, we all had a group dinner at an amazing restaurant called My Way. It was such a delicious and fun restaurant!

-Overall, day one was awesome!
