Day 2

Day 2: 7/7/2023
This morning I woke up feeling very refreshed from my jet lag yesterday and headed down to the lobby for a nice breakfast. After breakfast the group got dressed and we headed off to our first business visit at a young logistics company named Estoko. Estoko is a logistics company that focuses on purchasing flexible and elastic warehouses for low prices and selling stocks/pallets for a profitable price. Estoko also prioritizes completing front desk warehousing operations, providing green logistics including decarbonization, and their server includes could-based architecture and artificial intelligence. Although Estoko has only been an operating company for two years they are already a profitable company and have four hundred plus warehouse spaces. At our visit we also took a tour of their 3D printers which were so cool. It blows my mind that a printer can now create concrete objects. Just a few examples of the things they create include a travel size saxophone, sunglasses, chess pieces, and various toys. After our visit we took the metro to have lunch at an authentic Spanish restaurant. I ordered the Catalan chicken which was so delicious. Then we went to the largest market in Barcelona with our guide Marga who took us on a tour of all the unique shops. Lastly, we visited a beautiful cathedral named La Basilica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. It was such a beautiful place and I enjoyed observing the gothic architecture and listening to Marga telling us about the history of the site. Overall, it was a great second day in Barcelona and I cannot wait to see what the third holds!

Day 1

Day 1: 7/6/2023

After a long plane ride of unfortunately no sleep, Mae and I arrived in Barcelona around 8:30am this morning. We then took a cab to our hotel where we checked in and quickly showered before our orientation. At orientation we met our personal tour guide Marga, our professors both named Dr. G, and the rest of our student group. Since we had some free time before dinner, we spent the afternoon getting to know each other and shopping downtown. We then met up with our tour guide and took the metro to have dinner at a delicious local restaurant named My Way. Our tapas courses included mushroom risotto, salmon, and a brownie with ice cream dessert. To top it off we washed it all down with some tasteful champagne and white wine. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect first day!
