Charleston Music Fest, part of the College of Charleston’s School of the Arts, will present an all-Chopin program, with High Tea reception, on Sunday, April 25, 4 p.m. at Ashley Hall, 172 Rutledge Ave., to celebrate the 200th birthday of the composer this year. Chopin-fever has swept classical music events around the world, and this is Charleston’s first chamber recital fully dedicated to the composer this year. Taking centerstage are award-winning artists Lee-Chin Siow (violin), Natalia Khoma (cello) and Volodymyr Vynnytsky (piano), performing Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor and Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 8. “Chopin never composed a symphony or an opera,” says Siow. “He redefined what it meant to be great composer by creating his ideas around the keyboard, and gave us some of the best piano and chamber music we have today.”
