Live Coding is music performance practice that involves creating the sonic and/or symbolic aspects of music through computer programming. These elements are coded as part of the performance. Therefore, an important aspect of developing live coding practice is the search for efficient and expressive musical processes and their computational representation. This event will outline ongoing research into these expressive musical processes by Dr. Andrew Brown. The presentation will combine discussion, demonstration and performance.

Dr. Andrew R. Brown is a musician, educator, researcher, software developer and author. His professional interests include technologies that support creativity and learning. Dr. Brown’s creative activities focus on digital audio-visual works using generative processes and musical live-coding performances. He is Professor of Digital Arts at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, Australia.
