From June 26 to July 2, 2012, the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) will hold its annual Convention and International Competition at the College of Charleston Department of Music, hosted by Grammy nominated professor Marc Regnier. The convention will take place at The Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Center for the Arts on the College of Charleston campus (161 Calhoun St.).
Guest artists will include internationally renowned guitarists Juan Carlos Laguna, Dale Kavanagh, the Bandini/Chichiaretta Duo, Roland Dyens, the Assad Brothers, and many more. Besides performances from these celebrated musicians, interactive guitar technique workshops, master classes, and scholarly lectures, the convention will include a Vendor Expo, private lesson packages, and the opportunity to participate in the GFA Convention Guitar Orchestra. Daily events are open to the public with the purchase of a day pass.
Single concert tickets are available to the public for 8:00 p.m. concerts for only $30 each. Seating for all concerts is general admission, first-come, first-served. Doors for daytime concerts will open approximately 15 minutes prior to concert time. Doors for evening concerts will open approximately 30 minutes prior to concert time. College of Charleston faculty, staff and students receive free admission with valid ID. Most events will take place in the College of Charleston Sottile Theatre, unless otherwise noted online.
