The Taylor Festival Choir, directed by music professor Robert Taylor, is in residence at the College of Charleston.

Grammy-Nominated Irish Fiddle and Guitar Duo, Liz Carroll and John Doyle return to Charleston for a full schedule of music teaching, performing and recording during the Taylor Music Festival, June 14 – 18. Carroll and Doyle, who were nominated for Best Traditional World Music album in 2010, are once again serving as faculty and performers for the Taylor Music Festival where they will also give a special treat at the conclusion of the festival by recording a Celtic Holiday CD with the Taylor Festival Choir and members of Ferintosh, a Celtic fusion trio of harp, fiddle and cello. The recording is called “This Evenfall ‘tis Snowing,” and is scheduled for release late fall.

Held at the beautiful Ashley Hall School campus in downtown Charleston, the Taylor Music Festival is one of the world’s truly unique music festivals. Young people and adults of any skill level can take one to six classes each day in Celtic music on fiddle, guitar, cello, folk song, Scottish Dance, drum, harp, improvisation, penny whistle and recorder. Cost of the week long courses is $100 per class, or a full load of five to six classes for $400. Registration closes on June 11, 2010.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings feature performances of the guest artists and local faculty beginning with an Opening Gala at Waterfront Gallery on East Bay Street on June 14, 7 p.m. -9 p.m., which will have food, wine and a silent auction of fine art.
