The Charleston Music Fest chamber series at the College of Charleston School of the Arts will present the first of three concerts this season. On Thursday, October 29, violinist Solomia Soroka and pianist Arthur Greene will perform a program of solo piano and duo pieces: Mazurka in C Major, op 67 #3 and Sonata #3 in B minor, op. 58 by Frederic Chopin; Divertimento by Igor Stravinsky; and Transcriptions for violin from George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” by Jasha Heifetz.
The Soroka-Greene Duo is a husband-wife team of international prize-winning soloists, presenting brilliant and personal performances of standard violin-piano repertoire as well as many unique and fascinating lesser-known works. The couple made the first recording of the four Bolcom Sonatas. Also, Soroka discovered unplayed exquisite works of Arthur Hartmann, which the duo recorded in 2009. They have performed together throughout Europe, the United States, and Asia.
