Presented by the Arts Management Program in the College’s School of the Arts, “In the Mix: Music Industry Exchanges” returned to the College of Charleston in spring semester. The free, monthly music series has connected musicians and College of Charleston students to industry leaders through discussions on different music industry topics. Arts Management adjunct instructor Mark Bryan has moderated two of the discussions on Synchronization Licensing and Emerging Technology.

The final session on Monday, APRIL 20 (6:30 pm | Simons Center/Recital Hall) will feature live performances by Chris Trapper and Stephane Wrembrel: 

CHRIS TRAPPER – Chris began his career as the front man for 90’s alternative rock band The Push Stars (Capitol Records). Described by The New York Times as “classic pop perfection, Chris is most known for his song This Time, the Number 1 selling song on the Grammy nominated soundtrack for August Rush.

Chris’s music can best be described as lyrically driven roots–pop with a knack for telling everyday stories filled with extra–ordinary characters. His live show is a favorite among fans of alt–acoustic music. His on–stage persona is warm and inclusive, and his organic understanding of classic pop melody infectious.

STEPHANE WREMBREL – Stephane has headlined at Lincoln Center, played major festivals, and shared stages with everyone from Elvis Costello to Patti Smith to The Roots. Born in Paris and raised in Fontainebleau, he first studied classical piano at the age of four and later fine-tuned his craft among the Gypsies at campsites in the French countryside.

He later graduated summa cum laude from Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music before moving to New York in 2003. There his career took off, with multiple albums, scores in hit films, and an Academy Award performance. “I just play my own music,” he says. “I like to believe that it is beyond any one genre and that there is something in it for everyone.”
