CofC Declared a ONE Campus

The College of Charleston was officially declared a campus of ONE at this evenings Student Government Association Senate meeting.
The ONE campaign sought out the College of Charleston and approached the Student Government Association this past summer. Student Senators Alex Eichler and Russ Richardson brought the bill before Senate to make the campus ONE. ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History, is a new effort by Americans to rally Americans – ONE by ONE – to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty. ONE is an unprecedented bipartisan American movement and part of a fast growing global movement to make poverty history.
President George Benson and President of the Student Government Association Whitney Hinds signed the declaration proclaiming the College of Charleston be a ONE CAMPUS. Jesse Pruitt, a student of the college and promoter of the ONE campaign was in attendance.
The ONE Campaign seeks to raise public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in developing countries. Monies raised throughout the school year by student organizations including the Student Government Association will be donated to ONE.
