Assistant professor of accounting Kimberly Tribou, Ph.D., has been awarded the 2024 Best Paper Award by the Accounting Historians’ Journal (AHJ). This annual honor recognizes outstanding scholarship published in the journal during the previous year.
Her winning paper, “Failing with Flying Colors: The Saga That Led to a Disclaimer of Opinion on the Department of Defense’s First Full-Scope Audit,” uses primary sources composed of U.S. federal legislation and federal agency audit reports to document and analyze events in the nearly two-and-a-half-century-long process leading up to the disclaimer of opinion on the first full-scope audit of the Department of Defense (DOD). It was co-authored by Frank Badua, professor of accounting at McMurry University.
In August, Tribou will be formally recognized at the American Accounting Association Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
