Guttentag
Assistant professor of hospitality Daniel Guttentag has been named a Fulbright U.S. scholar for 2023-24, one of the most esteemed academic accolades in the world.
Fulbright Scholar Awards are prestigious and competitive fellowships that provide unique opportunities for scholars to teach and conduct research abroad. Fulbright scholars also play a critical role in U.S. public diplomacy, establishing long-term relationships between people and nations.
Guttentag’s research will investigate how effectively Panamanian indigenous tourism enterprises harness technology (websites, social media, reservation software, etc.) and identify potential barriers hindering their effective use of technology. While conducting research, he will spend time in various communities representing different indigenous groups and provide training on tourism technology.
Guttentag joined the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the School of Business at the College of Charleston in 2017. He additionally serves as the director of the Office of Tourism Analysis, which conducts data analysis and market research on behalf of tourism businesses and organizations throughout the Lowcountry, such as the Charleston Wine + Food Festival. As a researcher, he is interested in tourism innovations.
ISAE University will host him, where he will teach classes and assist with student thesis advising.
